Monster Hunter Portable 3rdModifier

Claw Swipe Ailment Inflicted: None
Normal Mode
The Volvidon will turn his upper body first and then swing his arm into the opposite direction, sending a Hunter flying if it hits. This attack can be and is usually performed multiple times in a row.
Rage Mode
Nothing worth mentioning.
Evasive Maneuver

Block if necessary/possible or run/roll out of the way. Diving isn't necessary as this is a close range attack. Players who can time their rolls can evade through the attack by rolling into the direction the claw swipe is coming from while player who want to roll but do not know how to time can roll away from him or behind him.

Keeping a small distance however is the best and easiest way to stay safe from this attack.

Multi-Claw Swipe Ailment Inflicted: None
Normal Mode

The Volvidon will roar first while raising both of his arms into the air and then perform 2-4 horizontal claw swipes while following the Hunter wherever he/she goes.

The amount of claw swipes is either 2 (low health/fatigue), 3 (normal conditions) or 4 (rage mode).

This attack is actually a faster version of the normal horizontal claw swipe and isn't performed once but multiple times.

Rage Mode
The Volvidon will perform 4 claw swipes in a row.
Evasive Maneuver

Block if necessary/possible, although doing so could cause your stamina to be drained completely as you will be attacked multiple times in a row. It is better to move/roll out of the way and wait the attack out.

Keeping a small distance and staying on the move is the best way to stay safe from this attack at any time.

Heavy Claw Swipe Ailment Inflicted: None
Normal Mode

The Volvidon will rear backwards while raising both of his arms high into the air and then take a big leap forward while swinging both of his arms diagonally at the same time, creating some sort of an X-slash that send the Hunter flying if he/she gets hit.

This attack can hit hunters within a 180 degree radius as long as they're close and somewhere within that radius in front of the Volvidon.

Rage Mode
Nothing worth mentioning.
Evasive Maneuver
Block if possible/necessary or run/roll/dive out of the way. Though the best way to stay safe from this attack is to keep a small distance at all times. The attack can be rolled through as long as the playing is rolling sideways and not away from or into the attack.

Roll (forward, backward, sideways) Ailment Inflicted: None
Normal Mode

The Volvidon will curl himself into a ball and roll either forward, which it usually does when player is far away to close the distance, sideways, which it usually does when close to the player in an attempt to surprise him from another angle, or the Volvidon will roll backwards, away from the Hunter, which it also usually does when close and then follow the attack up with a Tongue Swipe.

If the Volvidon rolls backwards and hits a wall he will crash into it and the rolling will be interrupted, though it will still do a Tongue Swipe.

This attack can also be interrupted by hitting the Volvidon while it is rolling, causing it to roll back, away from the Hunter and leave him helpless on the ground for a few seconds, allowing the player to get a few clean hits on the monster. An easiest way to do this is by charging the Volvidon with a lance while he is rolling due to the lance charge being a continuous attack until the moment the player's stamina runs out or the player either stops the attack or does the finishing stab.

Any weapon and any attack can intercept a rolling Volvidon as long as it hits the monster before the player is hit. However, if the player is a little too late it will result in both the player and the Volvidon being send flying in opposite directions.

Rage Mode
Nothing worth mentioning.
Evasive Maneuver
Block if necessary/possible or run/roll/dive out of the way. You can also counter this move by hitting it before it hits you and cause the Volvidon to roll backwards and become helpless for a few seconds.

Tongue Swipe Ailment Inflicted: None
Normal Mode

The Volvidon will lower himself, stand on both his arms and legs while moving his head suspiciously and then shoot out his tongue like a Chameleon. This attack has a very long reach and is flung sideways at the end, allowing it to hit players that are far away and not even directly in front of him.

The Tongue is a weakspot however and is included in the head's hitbox. If a player, for instance, does a shield dash with a lance through this attack from a distance, he will still deal Stamina/KO damage as if he has hit the head. This is the only way to do it though, any other attack will result in you being sent flying.

Rage Mode
Nothing worth mentioning.
Evasive Maneuver

Block if necessary/possible or run/roll/dive out of the way.

Depending on the distance between you and the Volvidon you can either close the distance while running out of the way in a diagonal line, or if you are too far away for that you can try to run out of reach although by doing that you would be taking an unnecessary risk unless you know how far his tongue will stretch out. If the latter is the when it comes to distance and you are incapable of blocking the best thing to do would be to dive.

The best way to stay safe from this attack is to keep a small-medium distance at most and stay on the move, which will make rolling/diving/blocking and all that unnecessary.

Bouncing Jump Ailment Inflicted: None
Normal Mode

The Volvidon will curl into a ball and bounce forward and sideways before assuming his normal stance again. Depending on the situation the Volvidon will either bounce 2 times (low health/fatigue), 3 times (normal circumstances) or 4 times (rage mode) in a row.

This attack can also be intercepted in the same fashion as his grounded rolls although it is considerably harder to do and not really worth the risk.

Rage Mode
The Volvidon can and will occasionally bounce 4 times in a row.
Evasive Maneuver
Block if possible/necessary or run/roll/dive out of the way. This attack occurs without much of any preceding warnings signs though so the best thing to do in order to protect yourself from this attack is to anticipate this move at all times and making sure you're not in front of him.

Rolling Divebomb

Ailment Inflicted: None
Normal Mode
The Volvidon will curl into a ball, jump high into the air and land wherever the player is standing. This attack can cover a huge distance if the player is far away and causes a minor earthquake that makes the Hunter tremble.
Rage Mode
Nothing worth mentioning.
Evasive Maneuver
Block if possible/necessary or run/roll/dive out of the way. The best way to stay safe from this attack though is by preventing yourself from being anywhere in front of the Volvidon, whether it is close or far away from him.

Paralyzing Mucous Spit Ailment Inflicted: Paralysis
Normal Mode
The Volvidon will rear backwards and then spit a yellowish mucous that paralysis anything it hits.
Rage Mode
Nothing worth mentioning.
Evasive Maneuver
Run/Roll/Dive out of the way unless you have the "Guard Boost" skill as this attack is unblockable without.

Soiling Steam Release Ailment Inflicted: Soiled
Normal Mode

The Volvidon will reassume his walking stance and release a brownish cloud of gas that inflicts the "Soiled" ailment on Hunters if hit, temporarily disabling them from using recovery items of any kind.

A player can use Deodorant in order to lift the effect or have an armor with the "Antiseptic" skill activated to become immune to this ailment.

Unlike most gas attacks, this one is blockable without the Guard Boost skill.

Rage Mode
Nothing worth mentioning.
Evasive Maneuver
Block if possible/necessary or run/roll/dive out of reach. Keeping a small distance however is the best and easiest way to stay safe from this attack.
